The Trust is a comprehensive workers' compensation program designed to meet the unique needs of the Connecticut healthcare industry. Since being formed in 1981, the Trust program initiatives generated over $36 million of premium returns to members. These results are due, not only to effective program planning, but dedicated staff-who provide efficient and timely service to members in a professional manner.
A 12-member Board of Directors, manage the business operation of the Trust. The Board of Directors' goal is to ensure that the Trust continues to provide a cost-effective workers' compensation program to its members. The Trust is centrally located in Wallingford and is Connecticut's only workers compensation program dedicated to the healthcare industry.
Experienced claims staff reviews all claims, initiates benefits for injured employees, and monitors medical treatment. Staff also maintains communication with injured employee, employer, managed care and medical providers to facilitate early return to work. Claims can be reported 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, via E-mail, fax, or a toll-free telephone number. Employers may access their claims data on-line via an Internet connection.
Entry into the Managed Care Program provides a preferred provider and pharmaceutical network, medical bill review, utilization review, and case management of specific claims by an experienced staff of nurses. These services assist to minimize claim cost, as well as ensure quality medical care-in a timely manner-for injured employees.
Loss Control staff, experienced in the healthcare industry, provide occupational health & safety and risk management services to assist members in controlling workers' compensation losses. Services include facility surveys to identify risks, OSHA required and other safety-related programs, as well as timely topical seminars for all members.
