The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has released its early estimate of traffic fatalities for 2021. NHTSA projects that an estimated 42,915 people died in motor vehicle traffic crashes last year, a 10.5% increase from the 38,824 fatalities in 2020. The projection is the highest number of fatalities since 2005 and the largest annual percentage increase in the Fatality Analysis Reporting System’s history. Behind each of these numbers is a life tragically lost, and a family left behind.

Employers can be held accountable whether or not employees are driving an agency vehicle or their own vehicle for company purposes. Taught by Trust personnel, the session will review the components of a Fleet Management Program for both owned and non-owned vehicles, driver qualifications, vehicle management, and other strategies to minimize the epidemic of motor vehicle fatalities and injuries.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Develop/refine your formal Fleet Management Program for both agency and use of personal vehicles
  • Learn to evaluate your drivers including qualifications, training and skills
  • Understand the importance for fleet maintenance, inspections and reporting
  • Monitor the program and adjust as necessary

Audience:
Human Resources, Fleet Managers and anyone responsible for driver safety at your organization will benefit from attending this class.
