Thursday March 26, 2020 and Thursday April 2, 2020

Cost: Members $195 per person
Self-Insured Clients $295 per person

This 2-day program is designed to provide the participants with a variety of information regarding safety and health in the workplace. Participants will gain knowledge about OSHA standards that for general industry. This program taught by Trust staff and OSHA, this program will benefit those that have the responsibility to provide a safe work environment for employees and minimize employee injury. Successful completion of the 2-day course will provide the participants with the necessary knowledge, sample templates, and information to properly implement various OSHA safety programs and training requirements. Topics include: Introduction to OSHA/Recordkeeping, Walking/Working Surfaces including Fall Protection, Exit Routes, Emergency Action Plans, Fire Prevention Plans and Fire Protection, Hazard Communication, Bloodborne Pathogens, Personal Protective Equipment, Electrical, Workplace Violence, Ergonomics, and Safety and Health programs. To receive the OSHA 10-Hour General Industry DOL card, both sessions must be attended.

Line staff, operation managers, supervisors, facilities maintenance personnel, safety committee members and staff development personnel.

Paul Mangiafico, CHST, OHST
Compliance Assistance Specialist, U.S. Department of Labor, OSHA
Paul Mangiafico has been in the safety and health field for 25 years. He has been a Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) since 1995, and an Occupational Health and Safety Technologists (OHST) since 2007.  Mangiafico has been with OSHA for over 20 years and has served as a Compliance Officer and as a manager in Region I and V. As the Compliance Assistance Specialist in the Hartford Area Office, Mangiafico provides compliance assistance to unions, associations, employers and employees on how to comply with the OSHA regulations and the measures necessary to prevent injuries and illnesses in the workplace. Prior to joining OSHA, Mangiafico worked as a safety director, providing on-site safety and health inspections to general contractors working in the construction industry.  Mangiafico also worked as an electrician.

Donna has over thirty years’ experience as a safety and health professional in a variety of industries including healthcare, manufacturing, municipality, and insurance.  She has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Technology with a specialization in Occupational Safety & Health and a Master of Science Degree in Occupational Safety and Health Management from the University of New Haven. Donna is certified instructor as a National Safety Council Defensive Driver 4-Hour Course and is authorized to teach the OSHA 10-Hour and 30-Hour general industry safety and health courses.   

Sandra Adams Brophy, RN, RS, CHSP
Senior Loss Control Consultant, Workers’ Compensation Trust
Sandra Adams Brophy is a Registered Nurse (RN), Connecticut State Registered Sanitarian (RS), and a Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP). Sandra has over twenty years of experience as an occupational safety and loss prevention professional, specializing in loss reduction, training development, and risk management consulting for healthcare and municipalities.  She also has over 20 years of experience in the fire service as a firefighter and instructor.  She is a certified trainer for the National Safety Council Defensive Driving 4-Hour Course and is authorized to teach the OSHA 10-Hour and 30-Hour general industry safety and health courses, as well as a Certified Safety Food Manager.  Sandra is a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven with a BS in Public and Community Health, and of Quinnipiac College with a Diploma in Nursing. Under the Office of Homeland Security, Sandra was a Safety Officer for the Connecticut Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT).

Pamela Hunter, MS, CSP
Senior Loss Control Consultant, Workers’ Compensation Trust
Pam’s insurance career spans over twenty-five years working for insurance companies and large insurance brokers.  Throughout her career, Pam has provided loss control services to healthcare, municipal and general industry clients throughout New England.   Pam has an expertise in working with companies to develop and enhance their safety programs.  Pam’s loss control credentials include the Certified Safety Professional designation, a B.S. degree in Occupational Safety and Health Administration and a Master’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health Management from the University of New Haven. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Safety Sciences from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Pam is authorized to teach the OSHA 10-Hour and 30-Hour general industry safety and health courses, and the National Safety Council’s Defensive Driver 4-Hour Course. 

Kathy Marek-Bissonnette, CSP
Senior Loss Control Consultant, Workers’ Compensation Trust
Kathy brings over twenty-five years of loss control experience in the insurance industry.  Her vast experience includes all lines of coverage with emphasis on healthcare, training, and Workers’ Compensation.  Kathy is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), a certified trainer for the National Safety Council Defensive Driving 4-Hour Course, a certified Food Safety Manager, and is authorized to teach the OSHA 10-Hour and 30-Hour general industry safety and health courses.  Kathy has a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Safety and Health.

Carlos J. Rivera
Senior Loss Control Consultant, Workers’ Compensation Trust
Carlos Rivera joined the Trust as a Senior Loss Control Consultant in early 2007.  Carlos has over 25 years of experience as a Safety and Health Professional, in the manufacturing industry. Carlos’s specialties are in the areas of OSHA compliance, safety program evaluation, indoor air quality, radiation and ergonomics. He is a certified trainer for the National Safety Council Defensive Driving 4-Hour Course, and is authorized to teach the OSHA 10-Hour and 30-Hour general industry safety and health courses, and a Certified Food Safety Manager.  Carlos holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Safety from the University of New Haven.
