The Loss Control Department provides ergonomic services designed to reduce workers' injuries, claims and associated costs. We target the unique needs of the healthcare industry where patient care and physical handling present risks for musculoskeletal injuries and disorders.
This is a detailed study of workers' physical demands, postures and movements associated with job tasks. This comprehensive evaluation includes an assessment of the work environment, tools, equipment and procedures as they relate to worker comfort, safety and efficiency. The ergonomic summary report details injury risks associated with observed ergonomic hazards and outlines corrective actions that target known risk factors. The goal of this analysis is to provide an optimum work environment and processes whereby workers can function with maximal efficiency and minimal risk of injury.
Safe and effective patient handling demands proper tools and work habits. Our hands-on training is directed to front line staff who routinely care for people with illnesses and physical impairment. A comprehensive ergonomic approach incorporates all aspects of the work setting, equipment and physical procedures. This program focuses on safe work practices including appropriate use of mechanical lift devices, body mechanics, proper planning and good judgment.
The work physical demands of some employees typically require lifting, pulling, carrying, pushing and a wide variety of body positions and movements. Our instructional program addresses the work environment and physical demands of job tasks. The teaching strategy reflects a practical and relevant approach to safe work practices and injury prevention.
Employees who work in office settings can become injured even in the absence of physical demands associated. Prolonged sitting, with high concentration and minimal movement is common at computer workstations. Our ergonomics program equips employees with the knowledge and skills to make improvements in work layout, processes, selection of the best "tools for the job," and energy-conservation through good posture and movement.
The focus of management level training is directed to an understanding of ergonomics and its relationship to productivity, preservation of employee health and cost savings. Leaders will acquire the knowledge and resources necessary to the development sound ergonomic practices within their organization.
This instructional approach focuses on "how to" strategies directed to self responsibility for proper care of health and use of the working body. This highly motivational training zeros in on proper body mechanics, injury prevention and safety. Workers learn how to reduce stressful work habits, improve postures and movements, and participate in a coordinated system of ergonomic improvements within the organization.
This is a comprehensive training program designed to equip a select committee with the knowledge, skills and resources to recognize and solve ergonomics issues. The task force will achieve the capability to conduct job hazard analyses, recognize work-related risk factors for injuries and make recommendations for corrective interventions.
Clients often have questions about work restrictions, modified duty, job descriptions, the Americans With Disabilities Act, fitness-for-work exercise programs and ergonomics guidelines for program development. We provide consultation and resources on these and many more related topics.
